There are not as many advice forums for small businesses as there are for the larer conglomerates.  Usually the bigger boys have their own in-house legal teams including a lawyer, company secretary and access to their favourite choice of barrister.  The smaller man tries to sort things out at the more amateur level.  There are associations and federations out there to help the small businessman and getting to know and subscribe to a local group is a good way to ensure focused help can be sought should difficulties arise.  One particularly well known federation has been going for over 50 years and has a highly respected set of principles that help seal their place.  They intend to fully represent the whole of the UK small business community;  they support advise and offer practical solutions to their membership and advocate on behalf of their small businesses and self employed membership, providing a very powerful and well informed voice that is heard by key decision makers within and outside government.  `

Not only do federations represent small businesses and self employed folk, they can help with training and development courses and will generally supply guides to help small businesses with standards and best practice for everyday business challenges;  how to stand out against the competition.   Not to be missed from any source is a guide on cyber security – always needing to be a the forefront of the communications and technology side of any operation.  The list is endless.
